2023 Habitat Building Challenge Entries – Part 3

And here we are at the end, which is a shame because these have all been so bloody good! It took me a while to get this final batch ready, partly because there was so many, but mainly because I kept stopping to look at every detail on every picture.

I can tell you this, you’re all so goddamn talented it makes me sick.

Lets do this!

Doug Donnelly

Doug has given us an excellent little selection of builds, from turning the tables on Frankenstein’s lair, to something lurking in the dark all the way through to a private moment with Cleopatra. They’re all so good!

Jennifer Coggin

As if an entire museum of builds wasn’t enough, Jennifer made these couple of fantastic nightmare themed builds!

Jijin Koid

Jijin has given us a couple cracking nautical themed builds, and a really cool childrens playground, with decidedly Fabuland-esque colours!

Kayleigh Lange

A collection of truly beautiful builds from Kayleigh, some of which have a lovely story of family attached. Thanks for sharing with us Kayleigh!

Kim Brackman

Its always a pleasure to get an entry from Kim, and this is no exception. I love all those potion bottles! Kim writes:

“This started off as an apothecary and then got tweaked to be an a-Pooh-thacery after my daughters pointed out I already had a Winnie the Pooh book and poohsticks crate in the scene!”

Kirsty Vermeer

“My Von-Uppity’s Neighbours”

Kirsty reminds us that no matter how grumpy your neighbour is, flowers will always make you smile. Unless youre the gardener next door, and then youve got even more work on your hands!

Krystal Nesbit

A build of pure adventure, Krystal’s scene has swords, mystery claws, giant butterflies and lava. What more could you ask for?

Lukas Mack

“Remover, Reuse, Recycle”

If Lukas didn’t send through a Star Wars themed entry, I would have been concerned. That dude has like eleventy million Star Wars figs. This is a great build though! The parts usage is excellent.

Matthew “Spud” Williams

Our resident Technic weird guy, Spud sends us a very non-Tehcnic build, and its so damn good! Theres a cool story behind it, which he shared on our Facebook page if you like to know!

Sam Lea

Two very excellent builds from Sam, one a frozen tundra and ominous cave that I wouldnt hesitate to explore, and the second being a clash of sci-fi worlds, as Classic meets Star Wars. That moon design is so simple, and so clever!

Samantha Fielder

Sam reminds us all to just “Let It Go” with her frozen inspired vignette, and also gives us some absolutely cracking foliage usage with an amazing secret garden! So awesome!

Tim Cudini

Trying to winner brownie points, Tim has aimed straight for one of my favourite PC gaming genres, the classic RPG! Tim writes:

“My model is titled ‘RPG’ and depicts a typical group of role playing game characters being challenged by some skeletons while exploring a dungeon. In designing the model I considered the small space and decided to make something that would best suit the tight dimensions – hence a claustrophobic dungeon, where the main characters seem a tad overwhelmed!”

Ice Mage for the win!

Tyron Benfell

Heres a couple of excellent builds from Tyron, one titled “Tavern Carnage” which reminds of of my nights spent at Malaga Tavern, and the second one titled “All Quiet on the Cannons”. Theres so much jam packed into both of these builds, awe-inspiring!

Ray Dunbar

Last, and by no means not least, we have…a staggering…20 habitats from Ray Dunbar. Ray is…*checks notes* 71 years old, and these 20 were culled from the almost…*checks notes again* 40 habitats Ray built.

You read all of that correctly.

And that is that. Thats everything and all of them. My work here is done. Now I hand it over to the judges and Ive never been happier. Weve got 6 prizes to hand out, and even that many I would struggle with. Theyre just all way too good.

Keep an eye out for the winners announcement!

  1. Hey Ritchie was 65 vignettes. I just finished putting forty of them up the wall to replace my two year old Hong Kong skyline
