Another month and another successful Buildapalooza! For those who are new here; what is this Build Night thing? For those who missed the event this time round, what went down? Don’t worry, don’t worry – let me break it down for you all with this month’s Break Down!
To those new here, Buildapalooza is PerthLUG’s regular catch-up where on the second Monday of the month we get together to talk Lego, build Lego and just enjoy everything that is little plastic bricks. You can bring along a little set to build, sort through some bulk or work on a MOC. It’s really pretty chill. For your $5 entry we also have wonderful door prizes too!

This month we gave away two awesome sets: the Avatar Mako Submarine and Technic Bugatti Bolide. Taking home first prize was a most incredulous Louis – the shock on that face was priceless. Hardly a runner-up, Kat won the Technic supercar. Not bad at all. Our congratulations to each of you. Enjoy folks!

And back again, a staple of build nights, is our parts draft. This is your chance to combine forces (and sets) with other group members to add useful quantities of parts to your ever-growing hoard of bricks and pieces. It’s actually super fun and full-on. This month the group parted out the new Dreamzzz Village. This theme is proving quite popular as parts packs but I personally can’t quite get past the little dreamling fellows. My own plastic prejudices aside, follow our Facebook page to keep in the loop with what set to bring along next month and get involved in the organised chaos that is the parts draft!
Besides the giving of gifts and parting of parts, we do actually build stuff on these build nights I swear. Well some of us do. Just a quick dash around the room I spied so many sets and peoples’ own creations in various states of progress. Melinda was powering through the builds with her Pinata and her own trophy to boot – well, we all deserve the recognition sometimes (jokes!). Kayleigh took us to space with the delightful little Ideas set while Nial reminded us all of the Empire’s superior fleet power with his midi-scale Super Star Destroyer. And rounding out our Lego tasting board for this evening is the absolutely adorable Bunchu Bunny of Nicky’s – ok, ok I may be starting to cave with these Dreamzzz sets; just look at them!

Buildapalooza isn’t the only event on the calendar. Sunday, November 5th will be our next buy/sell day Minifigpalooza and seller registrations will open up early October. Keep an eye out here and on Facebook for more details. There’s always something going on to keep us all busy and it’s absolutely wonderful.
If you’re new to Buildapalooza or missed this build night then we can’t wait to welcome you when we’re back next month on the second Monday of October. That’s the 9th of October at our normal time and place; 7-11pm at John McGrath Pavilion off Hensman st, Como. We can’t wait to see you there!
